Stereotypes about Cannabis Consumption Off Base, Again

Crime is Down and Tax Revenue is Up in Denver After Cannabis Legalization
All good things come to an end.

Marijuana laws, as they are now, cost tax payers billions of dollars a year. The taxpayers have to pay for every individual that is sent to prison for possession of marijuana and nothing more.

Most people are sent to prison for possession because they are on parole and it is a violation to have any illegal drugs on you or in your system. Because of the three strike rule, they are only three joints away from spending life in prison, which is extremely expensive for the taxpayers; all because of marijuana remaining an illegal drug. If cannabis were legalized, and then regulated and taxed like other commercial goods, it would bring in huge dollar amounts to the federal government.

There are many arguments against the legalization of marijuana; many of which I have already addressed. There are some arguments that have more to do with social problems than with personal values or health issues. One prominent argument against marijuana legalization is that if cannabis is made legal, then it will get into the hands of our children.

This has been proven untrue; there is even a counter-argument that states it is in fact easier for children to get marijuana than it is for them to obtain alcohol. Just because most people that do hard drugs started with marijuana does not mean that marijuana will cause people to do harder drugs.

If someone wants to experiment with cocaine they are going to do it regardless if they have tried marijuana before. People need to stop putting the blame of heavy drug users onto this harmless plant. No one wants to take responsibility for their actions and own up to their mistakes; everyone looks for the scapegoat. To this day, I have not heard an intelligent argument against the legalization and regulation of cannabis that cannot be quickly dismissed or refuted.

Most politicians, I would assume, are worried that supporting this controversial subject would yield negative feedback from their supporters. The public has gotten it into their heads that legalizing marijuana is the same as condoning it, which it is not. The fact is, many people would outlaw fast food, cigarettes, alcohol, and tanning beds because of the harm they cause.

But this is America, and America is about freedom and about choice. Give the people in our nation the choice to enjoy marijuana which is not nearly as dangerous as those four things I just mentioned without the fear of prosecution or criticism.

In these economic times the government should be looking for ways to create jobs, produce ongoing revenue, and increase morality of its citizens. A new Denver study shows that crime is down and tax revenue is up after cannabis legalization. A new California study has determined that the presence of MMJ dispensaries does not affect cannabis use in teens. Home Advocacy Naturally, I had to write about marijuana! TheWeedBlog Editor 4 days. TheWeedBlog Editor Jul These drugs are more commonly related to marijuana than hard drugs Nathan. Also, it is clear that alcohol and tobacco are more harmful to a person that marijuana. Even sugar in many health aspects can be considered more harmful than marijuana. Marijuana is a drug that is a lot safer and harder to over dose than alcohol Nathan.

The policy must be changed. The next reason marijuana should be legalized is because it would keep kids off the streets and away from drugs that are more harmful. Marijuana in many cases could be sold from dealers who also sell hard drugs. Therefore, if marijuana was legal and sold in a store in the correct way, it would help kids stay away from other drugs that dealers have to offer Nathan.

Also, it would stop kids from getting into the drug dealing business. They would have fewer motives to sell to their friends and other people. If the policy was changed and it could be sold in stores it would stop kids from selling all together. Being a dealer would be way less effective and it could stop many drug dealers and clean up the streets Alternet. Marijuana is going to be sold either way, so it might as well be sold legally. If the policy was changed and it was sold legally it would keep kids out of danger and make it harder to be a drug dealer.

Another very good reason to legalize marijuana is how much it could save our government money, and maybe even make money out of it. Marijuana is very hard on our justice system financially. If the policy was changed and it was legalized it could be taxed and used for government funding Alternet. It has been studied and many studies show that weed could create very good revenue Head.

Not only can legal marijuana help make money but it can also help out the justice system a lot. Over , people are arrested for marijuana a year. This number is crazy if you think about the danger level of marijuana.

Also, not only does enforcement have to arrest these people but also they have to pay for each individual case. Another way it could help out the justice system is by opening up jail spots. Marijuana users take up far to much jail space which could be used for much more serious offenders Alternet. All in all, legalizing marijuana could help out the justice system immensely and the policy should be changed immediately.

The health and comfort of the people should be the major concern of the government. Marijuana has many positive attributes that could help people in every day life. Many Americans that are suffering from ailing symptoms could use this drug. Also, it could be a great way to allow people to relax themselves on a normal basis.

For the most parts the symptoms of marijuana are very mild and are easy to deal with. Not very often are people uncontrollable or in a state of danger when using this drug. Marijuana is a drug that easily builds tolerance and allows people to handle the symptoms better. Many Americans will tell you that the symptoms are much more positive than negative Alternet. That is because marijuana is not linked to death in any way.
